It all starts with one thing. One word starts a book. One note makes the music. One inspiration creates a masterpiece. One spark ignites a fire or starts an engine. One whistle starts the game. One product launches a business. One handshake seals a contract. One plan constructs a home. One design builds a city. One push starts a fight. One argument starts a war, and one agreement ends the war. One smile breaks the ice, and starts a friendship. One hug comforts a friend. One kiss confirms a marriage. One true love completes our lives. One baby makes a family. One step conquers a mountain. One voice starts a revolution. One tragedy brings people together. One cause unites a nation. One massive event makes history. One invention alters the course of history. One God creates the universe. One person changes the world. One idea transforms your life. One idea starts the thought process. It makes us think some more. It makes us curious. But that one idea has to be logical and practical enough to go through the thought filters of our brain. We get millions of ideas every single day. Our logical and practical mind sorts through and quickly assesses each idea based on our current beliefs, values and principles. To get through, the idea has to adhere, and therefore, reinforce the current pattern of thinking. This is how we get to achieve balance and equilibrium within ourselves. Even in our minds, we try not to ‘rock the boat’, and stick to what we know and what we are comfortable with. To break through the filters, and cause a mental shift in our patterns, the idea has to be intense, relentless and forceful. It has to create a profound impact on the very core of our being. In other words, the idea has to be an INSPIRED thought. We hear about it all the time. Artists start to paint or draw an image that they don’t fully understand. They keep on painting or drawing, and they end up with a masterpiece. Authors start writing a book based on an idea from a dream they just had. Then, the book becomes a bestseller. An entrepreneur gets a nagging thought of a business idea. That idea turns into a multi-billion dollar enterprise that employs thousands, and affects the lives of millions around the world. An inspired thought pulls you to the edge of your comfort zone. It stretches the boundaries of your practical and logical world. It touches on the realm of the impossible and the ridiculous. It is beyond your current level of understanding and awareness. It is an idea that’s simply out of the ordinary or ‘out of character.’ It is beyond you. It disrupts the equilibrium, breaks the thinking pattern, and creates a vacuum – a deep void of emptiness that needs to be filled. “There is one thing stronger than all the armies in the world, and that is an idea whose time has come.” - Victor Hugo One Absurd IdeaWhen you get an inspired thought, you step into uncharted territory. You enter the world of the unknown and the uncertain. It can be scary and unnerving at times. You try to dismiss it and go back to your ordinary life. You try to re-establish the filters and the patterns. For a while, it seems to work. Everything seems to be back to the way it used to be: safe, comfortable, and familiar. So, why do we constantly ignore or fight an inspired thought? Since an inspired thought comes from somewhere we do not fully understand, we have a difficult time accepting it. We have a difficult time trusting anything we cannot explain by pure logical thinking or reasoning. It is easier for us to stick to what we know, and what we can explain. We want to hang on to what we can control, to maintain the current status quo. An inspired thought makes us uncomfortable. It shakes the very core of our being. It raises questions we cannot begin to find the answers for. It forces us to face our fear of the unknown and the uncertain. It challenges our deeply rooted and old beliefs, values, and principles. It pulls us off the couch of our secure, systematic, practical and mediocre lives. An inspired thought gets us thinking. It gets us moving. It gets us searching. It wakes us up from our long slumber. An inspired thought is strong and persistent. It will keep on coming back, consistently trying to get in to our current reality. Have you ever had a nagging thought or feeling? At some point, you will have to face it and make a decision. Will you continue to fight it, or do you let go and see where the unknown road takes you? “For an idea, which at first, does not seem absurd, there is no hope.” - Albert Einstein Creating ChangeAn inspired thought creates change. But we constantly try to resist change. Change is difficult, sometimes painful. Change is unsettling. It creates chaos in our seemingly ordered and perfect world. It compels us to admit our faults, weaknesses, and limitations. But we know change is a move forward. It pushes out the old to make way for the new. Once we acknowledge and submit to an inspired thought, our whole perspective changes. Our awareness expands. The strange and unknown world we were initially scared of, transforms into a world of better and bigger possibilities. We become more aware of all the things around us – people, circumstances, and events. We begin to find inspiration in the most unexpected and smallest things; things we used to take for granted. We begin to see and understand hidden lessons and meanings in every life experience. “We come this way but once. We can either tiptoe through life and hope that we get to death without being too badly bruised… or we can live a full, complete life achieving our goals, and realizing our wildest dreams.” – Bob Proctor Inspiration: Where does it come from?An inspired thought can be found anywhere, anytime and in everything. Inspiration is all around us. You can find it at home, at work, at church, and even at the beach. You can find it while driving your car, while walking in the park, while sitting on the train, and even while taking a bath. An inspired thought can come to you when you’re happy, when you’re sad, when you’re meditating, and even when you’re asleep! Inspiration. Where does it come from? If an inspired thought is beyond our current world and our current level of thinking, then the inspiration must be coming from a higher intelligence, and from a bigger and better reality. Inspiration then must be coming from the divine. An inspired thought – that inconceivable, mind-blowing and life-changing idea – comes from God. An inspired thought is part of a bigger plan, a grand cosmic design that we cannot fully grasp or comprehend. It is God’s way of communicating this plan to us; involving us, and helping us re-create ourselves and the world around us. An inspired thought then helps us understand our role in life’s great story. “There never was a great soul that did not have some divine inspiration.” The Creative SelfAn inspired thought awakens the person within – our true creative selves. Inspiration fuels the fire within that propels us forward – to be more, dream more, aspire more, and accomplish more. It energises us to experience life to the fullest, and motivates us to evolve. Our world thus expands and opens up. We live and breathe possibilities. We get to think of new and better ways of doing things. Creativity becomes a part of our thoughts, our decisions, and our everyday lives. The fear of the unknown and the uncertain is still there, but somehow everything seems to fall into place. Everything just feels right. Everything feels as if we are doing what is in our true nature. We are just being ourselves. We realise that our old, secure, and comfortable world was limiting our growth and potential. An inspired thought helps us to experience freedom like never before – the freedom to be our true selves. We begin to recognise what is truly important in our lives, what really matters. We therefore gain a new way of thinking based on a new set of beliefs, values, and principles. “The creative is the place where no one else has ever been. You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you’ll discover will be wonderful. What you’ll discover is yourself.” - Alan Alda Journey of Discovery and TransformationAn inspired thought empowers us to search and to act. Inspiration creates a void that we need to fill by learning, discovering, and doing something. It prompts us to search for answers, to understand more about ourselves, and to do something extraordinary. It generates positive, empowering energies within us – transforming inspiration into passion. This powerful emotion then moves us, enabling us to act. This is the process of transforming one inspired thought into action. And an inspired thought, once acted upon, opens the door for more inspiration to come in. Thus, we repeat the whole process each time. Our lives then become a journey of constant self-discovery, transformation, and evolution. “Watch your thoughts, they become words. Watch your words, they become actions. Watch your actions, they become habits. Watch your habits, they become character. Watch your character, it becomes your destiny.” - Lao Tzu Comments are closed.
